Acne Skin Treatment – Top 7 Treatment Tips

1. Effective Acne Skin Treatment Doesn’t Have To Mean Expensive

Expensive acne skin care products, kits, creams and lotions don’t necessarily work better just because they cost a zillion dollars. Many times the less expensive brands work just as well and sometimes even better then that high end stuff that just puts money into the pockets of all these high end skin care companies.

Did you know that many acne treatment gel, kits, lotions and creams contain the SAME basic essential acne fighter ingredients: benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid. So read those labels. This one little trick can save you tons of money.

2. Pimple Remedies

In order to heal pimples quickly choose an over the counter acne treatment product that MUST contain either Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. As mentioned above in tip number 1 these two ingredients are found in many acne skin treatment products and are phenomenally effective at getting rid of pimples. They can also kill the bacteria on the skin to stop the further spreading of even more pimples and acne.

However, if you would like to take the more natural approach to get rid of pimples you can dab on a drop of tea tree essential oil, a couple of times a day and watch how those pimples goes away. Many people believe that tea tree oil is just as effective as OVER 5% benzoyl peroxide.

Also, you can get rid of a pimple and inflamed blemishes by applying an ice cube to the inflamed areas. The cold ice will reduce the painful swelling and get rid of the redness. However, never directly place the ice on your skin. Place the ice in a cotton cloth then hold it on your skin for just a couple of seconds. Do this 2 to 3 times a day at the most. You don’t want to give yourself front bite.

3. Want to get rid of painful inflammation and unclog your pores?

Treat your acne by using a Sulfur Mask. Sulfur can unclog your pores and take down inflammation. A sulfur acne skin treatment mask can be found in your local drug store over the counter or at pricier product department stores and sometimes at skin care salons. My own personal favorite brand is “Clinicians Complex Sulfur Mask”. It cost $25.00 a pop online so it’s a fantastic value. And, let me tell you, don’t under estimate this treatment; it is PHENOMENALLY EFFECTIVE. This is an ALL-IN-ONE treatment. Let’s take a look at all that it can do for a mere 25 bucks;

  • detoxify your pores
  • balance your skin’s pH
  • heal damaged skin
  • reduce excess facial oil without dehydrating your skin
  • heal & lessen inflamed acne legions
  • promote cellular rejuvenation
  • control acne breakouts
And the list goes on and on.

This formula is specifically designed for oily acne-prone skin. This is the stuff that you want to invest in if you really want to clean out your pores and stop acne breakouts. Definitely an acne skin treatment worthy of your time and money.

4. Benzoyl Peroxide Usage Tips

DO NOT USE OTHER ACNE TREATMENTS IN COMBINATION WITH BENZOYL PEROXIDE. It will SEVERLY cause irritation, peeling, redness, dryness and flaking. Not unless your doctor instructs you to do so. It can not only stop the process of healing your skin but it can damage it instead.

Because benzoyl peroxide can be very drying to your skin after you apply it be sure and use a moisturizer afterwards (not together). Make sure that it is a noncomedogenic moisturizer (meaning will not clog your pores to promote more acne breakouts). You don’t want to treat your skin and then clog your pores back up with heavy, rich, pore clogging moisturizers.

Be sure and apply an oil-free (noncomedogenic) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 daily. Benzoyl peroxide can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and you don’t want to get sunburn and further damage your skin.

5. You can treat acne and still wear your makeup.

Makeup that have labels that say water-based, oil-free or noncomedogenic will not promote acne breakouts. These types of cosmetics can help your acne skin treatment efforts to clear your skin.

Then MAKE SURE that you are following these 3 simple rules when you are using an acne treatment and you want to still wear your makeup:

  1. Make sure to wash and tone your skin 2 times every day.
  2. Remove your makeup every night before you go to bed.
  3. Make sure to exfoliate your skin daily (this will remove the dirt, excess oil and left over makeup from your pores). This will cut down on a lot of breakouts and you can still be able to apply and use your makeup as you like.

6. Get rid of dark spots that pimples and acne can leave behind.

Pimples that come and go sometimes can leave a dark blemish on your skin. Dark spots can go away pretty quickly on their own as time goes by and your skin naturally rejuvenates itself.

However, sometimes dark spots like to stick around for days and even sometimes weeks. So how do you get rid of them right away? Brown spots are very easy to get rid of all you need are 2 simple products:

First, you need to use a bleaching product that is sometimes called a “depigmenter”. Some bleaching depigmenter products contain hydroquinone and the more newer treatments contain peptides. You should use these products no more than 2 times a day. This will stop your skin cells from making more brown skin or melanin as dermatologist call it.

Second, you need to use a chemical exfoliate like glycolic. The glycolic will remove the dead cells that hold too much brown pigment that you already have on your skin. These 2 gentle products will clear up brown spots within a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

7. How long will it take for acne treatment products to work?

Acne treatment products can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to work, depending upon the severity of your skin ailment. However, stay realistic with acne skin treatment products. If not you can and will find yourself becoming frustrated and jumping from product to product.

It can take generally anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks in order to see substantial improvements in your skin. There are many many great products out there that can work and get the job done. However, there is no miracle cure. So patience, patience, patience your skin will clear just give it time.

So as you can clearly see, acne skin treatment can be quite effective. With these simple tips you can treat your acne without emptying your wallet.
